Taking Divorce Filings Off the Web

You already know how I feel about this. Here’s another story about keeping divorce records secret, this one from the Cincinnati Post. The lawyers like it, the judges like it, the clerks like it, even the litigants like it. Only the reporters, and a weird dude like me every now and then, will criticize it. The problem is that it’s bad for the system of justice. Hrumph.

  1. am a filipina married an american citizen for 6years now..we both live in u.s. but mt husband want to file a divorce can our marriage in philippines still valid..for him to remarry..

  2. I’m not sure, but I think you’re asking whether it’s necessary to get a divorce when your marriage was in the Philippines and therefore perhaps invalid in the US. Yes, your marriage is valid in the US, and yes, if you want it to be over you need to get a divorce.
