Texas Divorce

Here are the best resources I can find for dealing with divorce in Texas, including Texas property division, child custody, child support, and alimony.

The DivorceInfo Network Lawyer for Texas is Robert J. Matlock. Click here to read his FAQ’s on Divorce in Texas.

You probably need to start with the excellent information available from Raggio & Raggio in Dallas. You’ll read all about How a Texas Divorce Works, Property Issues in Texas, Child Custody, Child Support, and lots more. Good stuff.

If you don’t need a lawyer and just want to file a simple divorce, you can order the forms and do it yourself, or you can get DocuPro to do it for you.

You can also use Texas Divorce Online, which offers the following advantages: (1) You prepare the papers online without paying any money; (2) You decide only after the papers are prepared whether you want to pay for them; and (3) The charge is only $89.95 for all the required documents, including the marital settlement agreement. Looks like a pretty good deal to me.

Verner & Brumley has a nice collection of resources. Jimmy Verner has allowed me to share with you a concise description of alimony (called “maintenance”) in Texas.

You can check out the Texas State Resource Directory provided by the Family Law Advisor. And here’s a good site from John K. Grubb in Houston.

You’d think less of me if I didn’t tell you about my wonderful partner in Houston, Laury Adams.
