Australian Court Reverses Child Support “Refund”

The Victorian Supreme Court has upheld the reversal of a ruling in Australia that would have forced the mother of two children to refund $70,000 of child support. Here’s the story from ABC News Online (that’s as in Australian Broadcasting Co., not the American ABC).

The “father,” Liam Magill, had sought and received damages from the mother of two children for child support he paid, after a paternity test demonstrated he could not be their father. According to the story, the Victorian Supreme court ruled that “Mrs Magill did not wholly set out to deceive her husband despite an admission she suspected one of the children might not be his when she nominated him as the father on an application for child support.”
