The formal rabbinic tradition for divorce is to obtain a “Ghet,” or “Get.” For help with the practical side of the Ghet, you need to take a look at Kayama, an organization that helps people obtain a Ghet. They have a good explanation about what is a Get, and why it makes sense to go through the process.

You can read about the Israeli rabbi who settles tough divorce cases. Here’s a bibliography of articles on the Jewish principles of the Agunah, Jewish marriage, Jewish divorce, and related problems. You have to pay for whatever articles you order, but the price seems reasonable.

There’s lots of information on the Jewish Domestic Abuse and Agunah Problem Web Page, including a separate page on Jewish Family Law.
