Joe Borden

joe borden familyMy son Joe is funny, talented to the point of absurdity, and so smart it’s scary.

Without any visible evidence of having worked at it, Joe graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama (telecommunications and film) in May, 2002. He’s working in California, where he’s served as a writer and then a writer/producer for Tosh.0 on Comedy Central. He’s entirely too far from home for his parents’ taste.

Joe is married to the former Michelle F. Veale, a wonderful girl from Auburn, Alabama, whom he met in California. Joe and Michelle have two sons, Smith and Wallace, both also living entirely too far away from their grandparents.

When Joe was young, he had a murderous wit that enabled him to skewer those he disliked or merely found annoying. It kept us laughing, but it also worried us. As Joe has matured, he has become more sensitive, more loving, and a true gentleman (but still wickedly funny). He’s good company to his parents, a loving husband and father, and a phenomenal cook.

For the benefit of those of you who have not had a child leave home, let me say that it’s fun for dads to see their children spread their wings and struggle with their own decisions. Among other things, when you know you don’t have to do what Dad says, it becomes safe again to ask for his advice. Cool, huh?
